This was the 'demo' that got him the job for Space:1999. He had originally built it when he was teenager. He then modified to what they wanted for the show (added length and the center pod area). Over the course of the show it was reused 5 times in various guises including in the graveyard scene.
Of course building goes a little faster when you don't have to try to match existing (as you know). IT will make a great display piece once I get it finished. The painting/panel line detail will be a job unto itself!
I only get a few hours if that on it each week between other projects, but its coming along nicely.
I had thought of adding some lighting to help give a sense of scale, but the original had none. I may just do some scale Alpha Child ships to match up to the landing platform that goes on the side.
