I agree paint has a way of making all the bits coherent. It's odd is not as heavily weathered as some of the other craft in Space:1999 (™ & © Carlton Media), but I think it due to its size -it does not do planetfall, so no weathering to it like an Eagle or other planetfall ship. There's actually a blend of 4 colors for the main color of the body, though it comes out looking mostly a silver.
