It seems like this build is just a lot of guess work and trial and error. I'm afraid,.... very afraid. It's in my nature to glue things on and then later find out I f'ed it up.
BTW, does anyone have a part list so I can make sure I have everything? I always like to know if I need to get replacements early in a build so that it doesn't slow down my momentum. There are just sooo many parts.
Tordoc,as Mark said, look at the reference than lay out the main part's before gluing anything down. You need to be able to get that top barrel to fit and the the AA Morser part to sit about right. If you get these two parts to fit OK then you should be OK for the engine height to be marked out.I made the mistake of getting the parts above the engine to sit about right and also the AA part below, but the top barrel just wouldn't fit.So thats why i think if those two parts are probably the critical ones to get right for the engine placements.Once you've got that still check some of the other part for placement befor egluing those engines down. It's a lot easier to get right the first time than have to rework it all again like i bloody did.
But understand, these kit's will not be exactly the same as the pictures you see of the original or one of the casted copies that we also use for reference.Thats because the kit has been made symmetrical by Sean, which the original model wasn't.So it's just not possible to get everything exact.Get it as close as you can and enjoy the build! The part's maps for this are also posted here at SSM as well as over at RI for seeing whats what.
Roy,cheers dude!
I think even though you may think it's a lil overwhelming right now, you'd find it not that bad once you got stuck into it.Just don't follow anything i've done. You've probably seen i've made a shit load of fuck up's with this build, just as i do with all my damn build's!But this kit is really a great kit thats been made!
Mark,thats all that matters dude!
I wouldn't be too fussed if things are out a smidgen, there is no way of having it exact anyway bud. This is one of those builds that as long as it looks the part we all should be happy with what we build i think?
