Jase, 1.5 is what I used, it was still a bit soft since it was not vacformed, but strong enough. But if you have any chance to get your hull vacformed, dont hesitate, follow this way !! You'll get a very nice curvature and it would be very strong !

And to answer your previous question, I started to build the Falcon (my first SS replica) in 2006. Februar... so that's exactly 4 years now ! Time is so fast...
