Going for a look I found online I attempted to emulate what I would describe as the somewhat mottled effect like a squid or octopus has? First a base of silver followed by "splotchy" areas of various shades of black added to the silver in many layers. Then a topcoat of green and blue ink suspended in clear with a "duo blue/green" pearl additive.
I'll follow this with some detail painting and a panel line wash.
But here it is straight from the booth so far:
