They sure did! The bottom of the railcar that this came off of says - Tamiya with the two stars emblazoned in the bottom left corner when you look at it upside down with the business end of the barrel facing away from your body. This also says "Tamiya precision models - Made in Japan Copyright 1971". This is in a dark gray colour whereas,the Hasagawa kit was olive drab = DEFINATELY TAMIYA. I too,was amazed to see this firsthand,and now you can't get it anywhere! I've tried all kinds of places,but none of them will have a 30 plus year old kit just lying around! This is why I have to get all my stuff off ebay.
