here is where i am at now. i have done a ton of work on the helmet since i took these pics but basically just did tons of alteration to get the back of the helmet smaller.

This is the first of a few "scale" prop builds that I've recently finished. These do not contain kit parts but thought I'd share in case any were interested.

My interest is classic Sci-Fi. While I like the popular laser weapons as much as anyone, I really enjoy an opportunity to build an obscure prop. Although only used once (but like most BSG props, reused in Buck Rogers) and on screen for just a few moments, when I spotted this prop from Battlestar Galactica's "The Young Lords," it immediately went on the list.

The bomb has a switch and internal lighting source. The original prop was probably held together with hot glue but I wanted to make something a bit more durable.

First step was to identify the canister which turned out to be a Swiss made aluminum water bottle.

STUDIO SCALE MODELERS

Hi everyone, I've been starting at Tamiya tanks for over an hour and have come up short.

Can anyone ID the parts in these two Ghostbuster's props? (Click photos for larger view)

 Slimeblower 1.jpg (Size: 1.49 MB / Downloads: 15)
Tank Treads

 Slimeblower 2.jpg (Size: 4.11 MB / Downloads: 16)
A vent - maybe from the same tank kit?

 PKE.jpg (Size: 472.87 KB / Downloads: 13)
Finally this one has two parts.
(1) A larger rectangle with a flair - and - (2) Something like half a fuel tank.
...hoping, also from the same kit.

Isn't it amazing they used a few kit parts just like on the Galactica, etc.?

Thank you for looking and any leads. I'm still searching... but it's a needle in a haystack...

I just finished weathering it and installing the lining and padding. Next will be the cooling fans and headset. As I finish the rest of the armor I'll post it here. This is very much like my Nova but this one will be screen accurate.

Attached is my copy of the 4" spinner.
This was apparently planned for a med scale shot for the top of one of the buildings. The shot was done with an even smaller scale spinner.

These spinners were given away as crew gifts. This one is (so I am told) from Paul Curley. At the least, it does seem to be an authentic casting.

Halloween 2013 Costume... What does a Cylon dress up as?

I know, I know... it has come and gone - so a late "Happy Halloween."

I had planned on dressing as my Centurion, but we get SO FEW Trick-or-Treaters (*ahem* Only 1 this year - Supergirl) - and I was wore out from work... so I passed on the Centurion. Then tonight at a Halloween Party (yes, late, as it was only time our friends could all get together) I had planned on being my Centurion again. However I would have to travel to another's house, only be there for 3 hours, all the effort and little kids, cat and dog running around again that I could step on/trip over, I passed again. And technically, why would a Cylon dress up as a Cylon on Halloween?

So what could I be?! I thought and finally something came to me… something very ugly, grotesque, scary and terrifying!!!

I recently bought a set of 1:1 "Galactica Warrior pins"

I got some "fancy pants" neck trim from my wife's scrapbook supplies

Then off to our BYC Gallery to capture a Colonial - the classic General Mills party mask (Link)...
THEN add a good ol' Cylon whoopin' (ala Photoshop)
...black eye, bloody nose, tooth busted out, fat lip - WHERE IS THE GALACTICA?!

A win for the Cylon Empire -and- cheap, lazy, last minute me

How about you and yours - any fun costumes?

Brad is an old buddy of mine from waaaay back in the early Galactica building days and is a member here, BrisFX. We've sort of lost contact in recent years due to life etc. but he was kind enough to let me visit and stay at his place in Brisbane Qld. a couple of times at the end of working trips. He's the original studio scale Galactica builder, still unfinished like mine, but it looks like he's been busy. I recall seeing a Mr. Fusion when I was last there, but didn't know it would turn into a whole car!
Great looking car, I'm not expert enough to tell if it's complete, but it sure looks the part. So cool. Nikki is a massive BTTF fan and wants it for her wedding car.
