Hi All,
Very happy to have found this forum and to be joining on!
I'm Dan Durda, a professional planetary scientist at Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, CO. My day job keeps me busy doing impact experiments and zero-g flights; my hobby life includes digital art and has me traveling the world birding.
I've been active on the Replica Prop Forum for a few years now, starting there mostly after my Star Wars fandom was revived after the release or Rogue One. Focusing mostly on collecting and building replicas of the various helmets and headgear from the original three movies, my interests evolved into other prop replicas and then back to my teen years roots in modeling. I've since caught the studio scale modeling bug after seeing some production models on display and some incredible fan-made studio-scale replicas.
The first studio-scale model I think I can claim is my training remote made from scratch from mostly original kit parts with a few castings of more-difficult-to-find bits - that's my model for my avatar. From a thread started over on the RPF I've just acquired the parts to build the escape pod and will post my WIP here as well once I get started.
Glad to be on board and looking forward to learning from everyone here!
Dan
