Yet ANOTHER studio-scale G head module

Here I go again. LOL Another CR head section build for a lucky fellow who is getting a "kit" of the original series battlestar.

This will be the last time I make one of these modules -- at least like this. It's excruciatingly difficult to build and takes weeks. After I'm done here, I am going to completely redesign the head structure. That will be Version 3 and hopefully the final version.

After that, I will at long, long last start building one for myself. Once my model is done, I plan to retire from making studio-scale battlestar replicas. . .

Oh, there are PLENTY of other things I'd like to make. I'm just tired of building battlestars. Someone said I should start putting symbols across my avatar like "kills" listed on a fighter plane. LOL

Not a bad guess. Do you supply these through Custom Replicas or are you out on your own now?

Can you hook me up with a set of landing bay lights or are they still through CR?

Your build looks amazing--even the interior supporting structure is beautiful. Do you always use acrylic for the interior?

I nearly always make my structures out of acrylic. I love working with this material. I choose it for the same reasons Grant McCune did when he was in charge of building all the models for the original Star Wars. Acrylic is strong, rigid, glues very quickly, and lasts a long, long time. When using solvent, the glue bond is molecular and can be so strong the part will break before the joint fails.

Acrylic is brittle, however, and it's so hard that it can be a nightmare to cut by hand. I have all my parts laser-cut, so that is not a problem.

If you know how to work with it, acrylic can be an excellent choice when you want to build something that's strong and made to last.
