I posted these photos in my Colonial One online build diary over at RI but this section reminded me about it.
These colored gels are thin transparent plastic sheets in a variety of colors. You can get sample packs for free (pay for shipping) with hundreds of colors. The samples are small - about 1-1/2" x 3" but a good size for modelling. Just cut to size and put them where needed to color your lights.
I used them behind the small slits in the front end of the Colonial One and at the little blue light at the top.
On the SS Raider I used a yellow-amber color between the LEDs and the fiber optic to make the front lights.
A great way to change your lighting from standard LED options into any color you want. You can even layer multiple gels to make custom colors. Pretty cool stuff and you can't beat the price.

Sometimes I build and think and sometimes I just build.
