Perspective distortion can cause problems with this method. Photos often "lie" much more than you would expect. What I ended up doing was using known measurements to create a 3D model that was as correct as I could make it. Then, I used the 3D model to produce a template. This template was a known "true-size" view of any given panel. I then went into Photoshop and re-sized/stretched the photo until it matched the true outline of the panel. This way, I knew the image was not distorted. When I laid the parts on it, I got a nearly perfect fit. Hope that helps. . .
