Well there was someone I know that had already started working on a CG version of the classic shuttle. So we gave him a little $ and used it. Also the opening sequence for the Mini, on the Armistice station, was originally MUCH longer. It showed that same guy showing up once a year, getting older, etc. So from the outside, we saw the old shuttle with a cleaner station become an older station with the new shuttle. So in reality the old shuttle should have been replaced with the new one when it changed and only seen in the museum shots. Armistice station was a very 'cheap' build, take a look at it and see if you can spot all the bits from other models reused. The new shuttle can be seen throughout the mini and series, but because they didn't make a set piece of it, it couldn't be featured.
