Hi guys,
Time to get on it again.
I first posted this back in April last year. Since that time I've acquired some mini flashlights that I'm going to use for lighting it, and a new cockpit generously cast and sent to me by Matt Myer. I also got one from Mike Salzo, but it wasn't enough like any of the full-size cockpits that I'm trying to replicate. Mike did provide me with the plug that goes in the back of the fuselage, and the correct wing mechanism detail parts. As these additional items weren't made for the CC version, some trimming down is needed - especially on the cockpit.
Here it is so far. I've made panel mods, including some panel chips on the top of the wing, not shown, to look more like the reference I have. Proportion problems are going to remain. I want to make this first x-wing build without making too much of a fuss out of it.
I've also made the wing wells more like a hero by adding minimal strip styrene to the perimeter of the openings. It works great by dropping a shadow on the sidewalls so you don't see them easily. It was .030x.040 strip styrene by evergreen. I don't think it makes the openings very much smaller than usual.
Any feedback is welcome. I'll post more as it goes along.
