Many thanks for the good words guys, much appreciated!.
I hadn't been around here for a while due to me trying to find the site again and re-register, but I had been plugging away on this build in the meantime!.
It is an insane build, constructing the parts in this scale is just incredible and takes up a fair amount of time and cash!. But having the parts built and in your hand is just so gratifying and you think wow, I'm going to have an amazing model here when completed.
I feel there seems to be a surge in the SS world for bigger models and people are responding well to this build, not just here but on various other forum sites as well. As for me I'm swayed to bigger models myself, although I'm glad I did the Tie Bomber first, a good learning curve.
I'm fortunate in that the machining of the alloy and acrylic costs me virtually nothing, if I had to add this to the cost it would add thousands to the total build cost!.
I'm looking forward to the fuselage construction next month, that will be fun and then I'll really feel it's on it's way well and truly!.

Hi mate, yeah long time talking with you bro!.
I have looked at your build, she's coming on great dude, the ref pics you have are awesome of the 'Jedi' version.
I'm not to sure of the R2 version I'll do as yet, but possibly a variety is in order to make. I'm not even sure I'm doing a particular X-Wing as it's really going to be a generic representation of all the smaller SS models with me picking the details I like of each one, but in essence you would really have to look hard to place each detail to a particular ship!.
As for the paint job, well, I'm really going to have to think about that one for a while!.

I had to stop production on mine because, the camera I was using just stopped working - I have no way of posting photos without a camera USB cable,or memory card. I'm waiting for the manufacturer to reply to my email about the cable - they better hurry! I'm already pissed, because I haven't made a single part since the first week of this month! I can make parts, but I can't show the in between stages from start to finish. This was my initial intent from the begining.
I just can't wait to see your version of this complete, and painted! Are you going to make a universal R2,or are you going to make all the R2,R5,and R4 units that these had? I'm thinking about making an R5-D4 model for those who want a Red leader version,so that it'll be accurate to the life sized bird.
