As far as reference pics...I couldn't find squat either 
I just went by the paint guide on the back of the instructions...they are accurate as far as I know
My client is a HUGE Irwin Allen fan and he said the colors and overall look for the build I did was spot on
The only after market set I used on the build I did was the TSDS Inc. decal sheet which is far better than the kit supplied decals...it has more details
