I was going to suggest shimming it up instead of tearing it apart. I was thinking that this was 1-2 mm off from the outside too. Adding material to it won't hurt its' structural integrity. The original Galactica was covered in styrene. 
I just wish that all the small fitting, and cutting didn't take so long, but there's just no way of getting around it if you want accuracy. Remember guys - speed is nice, but accuracy must come first!
