I don't want to dogpile this thread with comments, but I use an Exacto blade turned on its' side, or the back of the blade hilt (where it attaches to the handle). This works perfectly, and no special tools are needed to make a nice sharp line. But as Richard said, it's all a matter of personal preference. There are dental tool kits available at harbour freight.
