I wouldn't worry about using LEDs guys, if anything, they give a more even spread of light than bulbs. I think even to the naked eye, the light flare might look better? I haven't seen Phil's shuttle lit up yet with the bulbs, but LEDs really make your eyes hurt. They photograph nicely too: here's my B wing engines without reflectors or the current blue filters.
