I can turn engine bells, but there's no way to keep them from shorting out the lightbulbs.

That sucks. The sockets on mine are really tight too. One of my bulbs has bent legs now and will probably be broken before long. If you're not able to get those bulbs down there, let me know. I can get more for you.
