G'day everybody
I am a 45 year old Aussie, who has recently returned to modelling after many years break whilst raising my family. Luckily for me my eldest son has also taken up modelling as a hobby. He is more into military tanks & aircraft.
I joined this forum whilst researching a childhood dream. To bulid a cylon raider from the original "Battlestar Galactica" series which had always eluded me.
Well I found two original kits ( cylon raider & colonial viper) on eBay before Christmas and bought them for myself for Christmas.
So I started the Monogram cylon raider today and will search this sight for ideas on weathering and scratch building updates. Anyone who has built this kit before will know how basic it is and how much basic modeling skills are required to bring it up to some sort of competition standard. But being a boyhood dream just to own one, I just want to do a good job with what I've got and what I can "kitbash" to add a bit more detail.
I would however like some input as to the colour choice. Either tamiya or mr aqueous colours would be helpful.
I will try and upload some photos of some of my recent modelling projects to show you what I am capable of! A classic half finished 1977 eBay gem, R2 before and after weathering.
Looking forward to hearing any suggestions on colours for the "classic" cylon raider!
