Whoo-hoo! I have *that* model! Admittedly, a glue-bomb build that I've carefully disassembled...
...I am going to end up scratchbuilding so much of this it's not funny. Got time (some) got plastic (lots) got no cash (I do, just very wee amounts).

And here is a sample of what I mean by scratchbuilding*: cutting parts from sheet styrene stock. 1mm sheet, cut into two different diameters.
*A true scratchbuilder would: prospect for oil, bring in a drill-rig, drill, strike oil, refine the oil into the petroleum stocks the petroleum stocks would then be chemically converted to styrene, and then make the styrene sheets. Me, I just buy the sheet styrene.

And displaying the fact that I do need to examine an image thirty or forty times before I actually *see* what I am seeing (if you know what I mean...) the cylinders that are grouped mid-way on the landing legs are in groups of 3, not 4 as I had assumed...
I only have these motion-blurred shots but they do show what I am describing. So, only 12 cylinders are needed, not 16! Yay!

You're brave making those feet by hand :-) Have you figured out what the leg tanks are from?

The feet/engine disks were surprisingly easy to do (just tedious), once I'd settled on the sizes to use. 1.0mm sheet styrene, then cut 9 large disks ( 32mm / 1.25") and 8 smaller disks (23.5mm / 0.93") and I arrived at the sizes working from my enlarged screen grab.
Since the Tamiya Quad parts are virtually perfect fit on the printout, along with the Lunar Lander pod halves, I have fair confidence the feet/engine disks should be a close match. And, I am indeed aware of the potential for visual distortion, along with the fact that the feet/engine disks are further away from the main body of the model. I consider that a low risk, since they only look to be 5.5cm / 2" away from the Tamiya Quad parts. At least going by this view:

I forgot to mention the leg tanks...
The closest match in kits are parts from the Convair Manned Observation Satellite (Strombecker / Glencoe) and it was a 1958 release. The earliest re-issue for it that I can find is the Glencoe version, circa mid-1990's. This makes it problematic for something that had to be built in late 1979... While I have no intention of quitting the search for the correct kit parts, I did discover that the front spinner sections for the engines to Anakin's Pod-Racer are perfect sized leg tanks when fitted end-to-end.

Hmmm, good to know, I'll have a look around and see if anything else fits. In reality a tank is a tank if there's no other marks or bits on it.

I now have a Monogram Saturn V and Glencoe Lunar lander on their way to me, bidding on a Observation Satellite too.
Time to start looking much closer at these pics and see if anything else can be spotted.

hey guys,
I don't have it but there was an radial airplane engine model kit, I believe used on SW:ESB for the fins on Han Solos blaster at the front of the mauser. They were the similiar looking if I remember correctly. I don't think it was monogram - but maybe something like this? (11-03-2013, 02:51 AM)Joseph C. I think that's a very good lead/idea, but something tells me it was a simpler piece that was used.

Taking a closer look, the edges of those disc look rounded over which based on 1979 maybe Plastruct handwheels/discs. This is a wh-36 for the wider one (1 1/8" dia.) Possibly with smaller discs as the spacer?

The part that is above the Confederate flag is bothering me. I cannot locate it on the Airfix SR-N1 Hovercraft at all.
What I did find was a close match on the Tamiya Sd.Kfz.222 -- but, it's molded into the chassis. Could the model builders for the movie have cut that off and used it? Sure they could have. But, the pictures show if that is the part, it got modified. Additionally they also used twelve (yep, 12!) on the aft of Cayman's Gator ship. The same part.

It's from the SRN-4, not -1 :-)
I have a spare if it's the only piece used from that kit, but I'm not sure if it is yet. Nice finds on the other pieces! L

I can't see where you see Gepard parts 15/16, but that section is all from the Gepard after all. There's C10, C27, and a piece called 'Turret Part' :-)

The 'tank' looking piece(s) is used about 7-8 times on the Space Cowboy ship.

Ahhh, check out C10, C27, and a piece called 'Turret Part' that's not on a sprue.

Well it seems both the Monogram and Airfix Saturn V kits were used, maybe it was the Airfix all along! Certainly the engine pieces came from the Airfix.

Here's the Monogram and Airfix Engines. Looking very close that the miniature it's not possible to which of the large F1 engines were used. But the piece of the smaller one that you can see on the cargo section certainly seems to be from the Airfix.

I can't say about the engines - I just can't tell with the resolution that I can see. But I'll bet that you are right!
About that little canister / tank on the port side top: what about the motor halves (parts 27 & 28) from the old Moonbus kit?

Not sure it's that piece from the Moonbus, it looks similar but different and you'd need many kits for one part.
Here's where I am with kit IDing, I've only marked things I'm 99% sure on. There's also 2 decals I'm trying to spot, I think they are from a German tank. There's a "13" and "52" or "02"

That's exactly what I have been doing!
So far, nothing is leaping out as even a possible ID match. The various piping parts could go almost anywhere, and the arm-tubes which connect the station's hub to it's rim could also have been used in several places. No hard confirmations, though.

The 'fins' on the Jacker ships look to be SRN4 parts, and various parts on Cayman's ship as well...

I've also yet to find any other pieces from the Quad Tractor other than the Cabs used :-)
But I did find a fair few small pieces tonight and updated the map.

On the starboard side, that box looks to be part 45 or 46 from the 88mm gun kit.

 The service module can be seen on the left side on the shot showing the top, and it's not the Monogram piece. L

I was looking at the shot over the back of the freight platform, and wondered about the small fuel-cap-looking part. Is it just me, or does it look like the end of that cylinder? If so, it still has to be identified - but - that would mean the cylinder just is a bit of styrene tube with end-caps.
