Thanks Pez bud
Dave its way too small I think only a couple of mm across so would be a real hatchet job on the vesper parts, its a pain as its in tons of shots but never really clear at all, I'm going to have to off Piste if it doesn't rock up before too long !!

Here is a side view that might help
Thats a great pic but still really hard to nail that ID
Just lining and sizing stuff up to make sure it all sits in place in its new home

Fantastic progress with the build so far. The cockpit interior is great work. Wish I could help with those ID's but no joy so far.
Awe no worries bud, from here on in, any ID's are just a bonus, theres always room to improve on the next one lol

It'll fit mate, it'll fit lol. Looking great, so good to see all those ID's realised, wow!

Wow that backside looks amazingly cool. I can see how you are able to make the ID's on the back but how the H did you figure out what part goes over what part. I mean the whole structure is very convoluted. Great work man. Can't wait to see what's next.
11-10-2014, 08:02 AM
Who says its right lol, cheers Marv. I just hope its close but to be honest it all make sense kind of once its assembled I think? Possibly?
11-10-2014, 12:58 PM
Insane achievements Guy!
11-12-2014, 07:41 AM
Thanks bud, its slow going at the moment but really really hope to have some solid Hull stuff in the next few weeks. My partner in crime is being a super star beyond and really working hard with me to nail this, more than thanks deserved all round for that!
So , hoping the bucks will be milled this week, once I test for fit and they're good then I'll be doing the build thread asap, well excited

You know to make sure I'm on that list Gut!

Im used to Jasons auto correct, always gives me a chuckle in the wee hours haha!

Lmao.....
Sorry Guy! Stupid auto mistakes......
I'm the same mate, I've not yped anything in flour ears that makes sense :-)
Today we went from 2D to 3D on the bucks, first of many steps and still Id'n the insane parts but were one step closer and I could not be happier. The reason we have a flat on the top of the skirt is looking at all the vintage ref it seems a scratched fixing was made for the armature on the original that we could iron out at the start by having a flat for the cross spar to lay on and be fixed in place. Hopefully eliminating any pinch once the wing wells are trimmed away and also means the skirt will hang down from the armature like the original but more securely without risk of pressure. We don't think it was like this on the original as there is only one photo of this area that I know of but it does seem to flatten off there so we took the decision to make a safe a bet. The Skirt has 2 layers of styrene but only one thicker at this point (on the flat) so it will be great to see if it works. I know it will cos I care :-)

Looks fantastic mate, yeah be nice to have the droop in the tail section of the skirt, its a big draw, ILM's little pinch error is a key killer addition haha!
lee
Not sure if its done yet but the curved lower edge will be milled into the buck
12-18-2014, 07:16 AM
The reference cut lines are there, Very shallow. Just enough to see it from the inside of the pull.
12-18-2014, 10:46 AM
Perfect, cant wait to see the first one cut, congrats to both of you, all those late nights on the phone will soon pay off haha!

Looking good fellas.
This is the most bad ass ship of them all.
01-13-2015, 12:04 AM
Exciting times both, hats off to both of you, the work load so far has been so high, your close to seeing a bit of light!
lee
01-13-2015, 02:45 PM
It certainly only feels like a little bit of light lol
Extra refinement was worth it, Its as close as its going to get. Next mill the pattern for the rest of the parts.
01-13-2015, 02:57 PM
Great video into what has took so much work to create, really blows the mind how all this works Rob!
At least its a glimmer haha, i know you two will throw a spotlight on it soon, been fun watching it grow over these past months! Lee

I want to see the look on Guys face right before he makes theÂ
1st cut....priceless! LMAO
01-15-2015, 02:16 AM
Theres cut lines all over the pulls, A blind man could cut the pulls and put them together. So Guys got a decent shot at it then! LOL

LOL LOL.....He will still be nervous  Are there cut lines for the side wells, canopy, and where the fuselage has to fit into the landing skirts?
01-15-2015, 02:28 PM
Lets see, Theres the skirt base cut line, Then the fuselage for the tail and where it meets the skirt. the wing wells have lines for the intersection of the fuselage and skirt. Theres a separate pattern for the canopy so you can place it over the pull and trace the cut line.

Cheaters.....LOL Well if it has all those cut lines should
make it much easier....I hated making those cuts blind, not sure how I got that in one take?
01-23-2015, 12:06 PM
Its been a long wait and taken many months to nail but we did it, first skirt pull is home and trimmed and it seems that it all fits lie it should, some big engine tweaks to make but all in the right direction as opposed to the wrong direction, plenty of wrong direction already gone with this subject matter!!!
So I've decided that the finest of tweaks in the skirt are pointless now and its full steam ahead (slowly) You can see in these pics the rather lesser seen curve in the skirt and how photography has hidden it to the casual glance ![]()
01-23-2015, 02:15 PM
Great stuff! I'm really hoping you're the one to go the full distance on this thing.
01-24-2015, 11:38 AM
I shall do my best to not let you down on that one, and thanks thats a cool thing to say ..much appreciated
